Como town in a day
Como sits at the southern tip of the lake, three kilometres from our apartment in Blevio. A walled medieval centre, a Gothic-Renaissance duomo, a funicular climbing 700 metres above the lake, and the best evening passeggiata on the lake.
A simple one-day route
- Morning — coffee on Piazza San Fedele, then the Duomo (free, allow 30 min) and the medieval lanes around it.
- Late morning — walk the lakeside Passeggiata Lino Gelpi past the Tempio Voltiano to the war memorial.
- Lunch — sandwich from Mercato Coperto or a sit-down at Osteria del Gallo.
- Afternoon — the Funicolare from Piazza De Gasperi up to Brunate: the village on the ridge above Como with the best panorama on the lake.
- Evening — aperitivo on Piazza Volta or wine at L'Osteria del Vinaccio, then dinner.
